Both of this case has similarities and differences. I will write similarities firstly.
Dita and Masika are not Americans. Both of them are alien. Dita is from Indonesia and Masika is from Congo in Africa. In addition, both of them went to America to study. They were America college students. They felt culture shock while they were living America. They felt loneliness and isolation from their classmates because they did not get along with America friends. Especially, Dita felt that America food is not fit to her so she did not like America foods. America foods are too bland to her. Also both of them cried because of their hard time.
Secondly, I will write differences. Dita was just a student but Masika was married and she has a lively daughter. In addition, even though she did not get along with her classmates, Masika loved her class. However, Dita did not like her class. Besides, Dita hated American foods but it was not difficult to Masika. Dita got a problem with her roommate about sex and she regretted to come to America but Masika did not do that. Masika thought and asked some questions by herself. Such as ‘What was causing these feelings of isolation and confusion?, ‘Would I eve fit into this culture?’ Like this, Masika thought herself about different lies between America and her country. Moreover, Masika thought cultural adjustment is a process, that is not finished and she said it is a life-time adventure. She realized more cultural things when she was living in America. In addition, at the end of their story, Masika accepted her life in America but Dita still had a hard time to stay in America. I think Masika is more generous than Dita.
